Welcome to Eydie Nelson Photography! I’ve been a professional photographer since 2008. During this time I’ve expanded into four areas of specialty: Newborn photography, Baby photography, Child photography and Family photography.
My philosophy is simple: capture each child and family in his or her most natural and unique. Unscripted baby and child photography is my specialty and I love being able to help families preserve their love for each other in photographs.
I am available for a limited number of photo sessions each month. I photograph on location, at your home, or in my NE Minneapolis studio. My work takes me throughout the Twin Cities metro area and beyond. I can help you find the perfect outdoor setting if you have an idea of what you want but don’t know where to find it. My sessions are never rushed, allowing time for babies, children and families to get comfortable and let their true character naturally shine through. Newborn Photography
There is nothing more perfect than a newborn baby. Tiny fingers and toes, plump little lips, sleepy faces and downy hair. These are, arguably, the most photographed days of a child’s life, and parents want to preserve these images forever.
Newborn photography is best done within the first 10 days of life. This allows a newborn photographer to capture the poses the baby held in her mother’s womb – during this time, they curl in the sweet little way they do. Older newborns tend to sleep less, making it difficult to get the sure shots you will love. Sessions are typically held at my studio, where natural lighting enhances a newborn’s sweet perfection.
Baby Photography
My baby photography focuses on babies from 6 to 12 months of age. By this time, babies are starting to sit pretty on their own and have a more developed personality than a newborn. This allows me to capture the wonder and joy of a child seeing or experiencing things for the first time – the excitement of being mobile, the wonder of exploring their world and the unconditional love they have for their parents. Unlike other baby photographers, I utilize very little in the way of staging. My sessions are organic, simple and classic. I will blend into the background and capture the real expressions of babies as they interact with their environment or family.
Children Photography
Children photography is usually for 1-8 years of age. As with newborn and baby photography, my kids’ photography is unscripted and natural. These memories can be documented on location or at my studio; however, I’ve found many clients prefer to have their child photographer take photos outdoors where kids can be kids. This leads to some incredibly unexpected and impromptu images truly capturing your child’s personality. My goal is to capture children as they really are in day-to-day life.
Family Photography
Family photography sessions are typically done on location, or at the client’s home. The benefit of an on location session is it allows families to interact naturally in their home or favorite environment. I can also include pets in home photo sessions if so desired. All sessions include the child or children with the family.
