this sweet, little mimi bird hopped into my life a few years back. when my little girl started talking, she called everything "mimi." she chirped "mimi" all the time. and, from that time on, we called her our little mimi bird. during this time, i was at a local boutique and stumbled upon the most fitting little piece of art. on the picture was a very sweet, chunky, little bird and the title was "mimi bird." i of course had to have it...it seemed as if it was made for us and still hangs in our home today. my very own little mimi bird, grace, who is my older baby, is the one who made me fall in love with the camera. and, it is this little bird that will be a constant reminder of the inspiration that makes me so very happy when taking photographs.

i love the details…every little part of him.  he loves the bathtub…and, watching him play in the tub never gets old.  his face lights up…he loves to splash.  the wonder of it all.  and, seeing every part of his perfect baby skin covered with bubbles.  he is perfection. these are the moments i wish i could capture in a bottle, because they are too easy to forget.  this past year has gotten away from me…so hard to believe my myles will be one soon.  slooooowwwww down clock.  i love taking photos of these special times.  not necessarily the kind of photos that you would hang on your walls, but the innocence and sweetness of our children when they are tiny and discovering the world is so wonderful.  i have been thinking that i would like to offer clients little mini session “concept” shoots.  one like this.  they would be inexpensive.  and, they would be fun.  a bathtub or a sink with your baby in it.  playing in the mud, or in the cupboard with the pots and pans.  digging in some cookie dough…the little things your baby does that you want to remember.  what do you think?  let me know…

see you later little lover…:)

my dear friend sara said it perfectly, “isn’t life grand. so crazy and yet so still.”  i really could not have worded a description of this photo any more perfect.  it was a crazy busy week and while i didn’t think my patience could go much further, i walk into a room and see this.  what a beautiful sight.  pure innocence.  one baby girl who cannot get enough of her little baby brother, reading quietly to him at 7:00 am.  this is a memory i will never forget…and, while we are living in a world of “busy” it is these sights that make us stop, take a deep breath and love the simple, precious moments that make “life so grand.”  have a wonderful week-end.

i vowed to myself this year i would be better about doing a few regular photography sessions with my own children.  a real photography session, where i plan a special little spot to go, dress up and capture a few memories we will cherish forever and always.  and, so this is the first of 2011…and, even though it was 100 degrees, we went, and played in a beautiful minnesota field.  this is my dream spot for photos…so pretty, full of color and texture. timeless simplicity.  i was worried the bugs might eat us alive, but it was even too hot for them to come out and play.  ha!

and, finally the best part of the evening…our reward of ice cream at the lake.  and, a little time in the lake too.

and, one final photo that i took recently of my little guys…

it is very hard for me to believe that our little love is already 4 weeks old.  my eyes well up just thinking about it because he has already grown so much. sometimes, i wish that time could just stand still…because i just want him to stay teeny for just a bit longer.  he is so tiny and perfect and innocent.  i know that most of you understand this feeling exactly.  i wish his teeny body would fit on my chest forever, all curled up in a little ball.  i love snuggling with him…there is nothing like it.  oh, how i love everything about this time…even with the lack in sleep, i love it.:)  as you can see, i am very far behind in posting photos of myles…i have been cherishing this precious time with my family and adjusting to our new life of five. below are a few of the photos i have captured since myles was born.

myles henry :: 6 days old

myles henry :: 11 days old

my two older loves being silly:)

myles henry :: 21 days old

itty bitty baby myles ::  myles henry one day old

my dear, dear friend gwen waite photographed our family not even a day after our myles was born.  i am incredibly thankful to have these photos…i would have never had these moments captured otherwise.  and, as much as we want to just remember, it is so easy to forget what that moment felt like and looked like because everything is such a whirlwind after a baby is born.  precious, precious memories that i will cherish for a lifetime.

oh how i love this sweet little boy.:)

another perfectly sweet and adorable family…i am so lucky.:)  remember little ruby?  http://eydienelsonphotography.com/blog/teeny-little-loves/little-ruby/ she has grown so much.  her sister and brothers adore her.  we had fun playing in the warm, fall sun and the light was so pretty.  isn’t it funny how naturally different little boys and girls are?  girls love to twirl and dance like a princess and boys love to run and fall to the groundl!  the weather we have had here in MN is simply breathtaking…i want it to last forever.  thank you, W family…
