this sweet, little mimi bird hopped into my life a few years back. when my little girl started talking, she called everything "mimi." she chirped "mimi" all the time. and, from that time on, we called her our little mimi bird. during this time, i was at a local boutique and stumbled upon the most fitting little piece of art. on the picture was a very sweet, chunky, little bird and the title was "mimi bird." i of course had to have it...it seemed as if it was made for us and still hangs in our home today. my very own little mimi bird, grace, who is my older baby, is the one who made me fall in love with the camera. and, it is this little bird that will be a constant reminder of the inspiration that makes me so very happy when taking photographs.

i love first birthday cake shots…super cute and super messy.  we were prepared for a major mess, but mr. shilo was a very clean cake eater.  :)  he seemed to enjoy the flavor on each of his tiny fingers…what a peach.  happy birthday little guy!

little noah woke up very early the morning of our shoot and had not had a great night of sleep.  he is getting a lot of teeth and his mouth was very sore which kept him up a lot in the night.  you would have thought he would have been all crabs, but he was all smiles and such a good little boy.  and, just when we thought he had run out of steam, we gave him a little bath and the smiles came back again.  it was so great to meet the entire family…a beautiful morning and lots of love to go around.  thank you, jon and jenny.  so fun to see you all again.

oh miss marlowe…you are too sweet for words.   i have been photographing this little love since she was just days old.  it has been wonderful watching her change into a little girl.  her red locks are so beautiful and i hope she grows curls of red forever and ever.  i am so happy miss marlowe decided she wanted to have her picture taken…it took her a couple hours  :)  but, was most definitely worth the wait.  as you will see there is lots and lots of sweetness below.  thank you, lisa and dave.  i loved my time with your family.  and, a special thanks to grandma for helping us at our shoot and letting us use her beautiful yard.  :)

i met with shilo at the end of may and during the transport from daycare to our session location, shilo fell deep into sleep.  well, you see, he was not so excited about waking up to take photos.  and, when the mean photographer:)  made mommy get him up, he was not so happy.  so, we tried and tried, but he was just sooooo sleepy.  i still caught some sweet moments, but shilo was just not quite himself.  so, we found a time that worked to meet again and it ended up being a month later.  sweet shilo was wide awake and full of smiles.  and, i honestly could not believe how much he had grown in just one short month.  he looks so different to me…more like a little boy.  oh my is he cute.  heidi and kyle…thank you!  can’t wait for shilo’s first birthday!

sleepy baby boy…

here’s where shilo was really getting mad at me.  :)  :)  but, gosh, he is still SO cute even when he is sad…and, it was at this point

that we decided it would be wise to try again another day…

so, we met again and look what happened!  smiles and TWO MORE TEETH!  :)

lots more smiles to come soon mom and dad!

it was a beautiful, very windy, summer morning at grandma and grandpa’s lake home…sweet julia was a such a good baby girl with the wind practically pushing her on her side.  :)  from the lake, we decided we would test our luck a bit more and we took a few more photos at julia’s house.  she was soooooo good and by the end of our shoot, she wanted to fall asleep in the basket we put her in.  thank you adam for being a trooper with all of the ladies’ crazy ideas!  :)  i loved spending the morning with you all…
