this sweet, little mimi bird hopped into my life a few years back. when my little girl started talking, she called everything "mimi." she chirped "mimi" all the time. and, from that time on, we called her our little mimi bird. during this time, i was at a local boutique and stumbled upon the most fitting little piece of art. on the picture was a very sweet, chunky, little bird and the title was "mimi bird." i of course had to have it...it seemed as if it was made for us and still hangs in our home today. my very own little mimi bird, grace, who is my older baby, is the one who made me fall in love with the camera. and, it is this little bird that will be a constant reminder of the inspiration that makes me so very happy when taking photographs.

ben, i love every little ounce of you.:) i love it when moms tell me how chunky their babies are because i always say, the chunkier, the better.:)   what a sweet pea you are, ben!  i loved seeing you and your lovely family.  thank you for coming to my new studio.  we had a fun morning together.

i think ben was telling me something here…:)  “time to be done photographer lady”!!

i love the details…every little part of him.  he loves the bathtub…and, watching him play in the tub never gets old.  his face lights up…he loves to splash.  the wonder of it all.  and, seeing every part of his perfect baby skin covered with bubbles.  he is perfection. these are the moments i wish i could capture in a bottle, because they are too easy to forget.  this past year has gotten away from me…so hard to believe my myles will be one soon.  slooooowwwww down clock.  i love taking photos of these special times.  not necessarily the kind of photos that you would hang on your walls, but the innocence and sweetness of our children when they are tiny and discovering the world is so wonderful.  i have been thinking that i would like to offer clients little mini session “concept” shoots.  one like this.  they would be inexpensive.  and, they would be fun.  a bathtub or a sink with your baby in it.  playing in the mud, or in the cupboard with the pots and pans.  digging in some cookie dough…the little things your baby does that you want to remember.  what do you think?  let me know…

see you later little lover…:)

i love valentine’s day…and, i love making tiny little bits of love to share.  i know the holiday has become too commercialized, but i still love it.  maybe it is the child in me remembering how special the day was.  a party at school and a bag filled with love…candy and cards from our special friends.  as a grown up, i love the beautiful colors, the sayings of love, giving to others, and the feeling that spring is just around the corner.  one of my new year’s resolutions for 2012 is to get back into doing the things i really, really love…things i used to do before i had little ones and life got so busy. and, this would mean actually blocking out time on my calendar to do these types of things.  as i sat and made homemade valentines for max and grace’s classes i felt a bit guilty…”i have so many things i really “need” to be doing right now,” i thought.  but, then they were done and i looked down at them and my heart smiled.  my kids will surely not appreciate these the way i do and that is okay.  because we moms don’t take enough time for ourselves…doing things that make us feel warm inside.  this is the nature of a mother, but i have come to realize that i need to nourish my own heart too even if this means cutting out heart shaped papers and tying a pretty ribbon on top.:)  because i love doing these types of things…happy valentine’s day everyone.  nourish your heart today and count all of the blessings of love in your life.
